Deborah Davis is the BIFA/BAFTA winning, and Oscar/Golden Globe nominated screenwriter of THE FAVOURITE (which she created and executive produced), starring Emma Stone, Rachel Weisz and Olivia Colman. Yorgos Lanthimos (The Lobster) directed; Element, Scarlet Pictures and the BFI produced. It won a record 10 BIFAs and the Venice Grand Jury Prize. Other broadcasting credits include contemporary and historical dramas for BBC Radio 4 including GUILTY UNTIL PROVED INNOCENT, starring Dan Stevens and Maxine Peake, now in development with Independent. She has been commissioned by CAPA DRAMA and CANAL+ (producers of VERSAILLES) to create, showrun and write a TV drama series on MARIE ANTOINETTE. Her stage play, COURT PASTORAL, is in development with Emmy award winning and Olivier nominated US director, Rob Ashford. She is developing a further original idea, THE OTHER, a romantic comedy set in Jaffa. Balance of Power (now The Favourite) was originally broadcast on Radio 4 as a five-part drama and COURT PASTORAL was selected for the International Playwriting Festival. Deborah has an MA in scriptwriting from the University of East Anglia and has written features for The Guardian, The Times, Vogue, Screen International and Women’s Art Magazine. She originally qualified and practised as a lawyer.
